My name is Miguel and I am just now starting my freshman year in college. My dream has always been to become a physician. I have the oppurtunity to go back to my home country of Guatemala and study medicine in one of the best universities in central america. I know how hard it is to get into med school here in the US but I also know how hard it is to get a residency spot as a foreign graduate. In Guatemala the medical program is a 7 year program in which after 3 years you get a BS and at the end of the 7 years you get an MD. Does anyone know if "Universidad Francisco Marroquin" is listed in the World Directory of Foreign Medical Schools? Should I try my luck here or should I go. Please Please Help

Well, that very much depends upon many factors.

Where do you plan to practice in the US, and in what type of medicine, and with what people and in what setting? Are you the type to make a 3.9 in US undergrad? Are you okay with paying 80K-150K for US medical school, or worse yet, going into debt for this?

I do think Universidad Francisco Marroquin is WHO listed. I know with certaintly that Universidad San Carlos there is.
