Hey, I was curious if anyone knew of a list of schools with good out of state acceptance that wanted to add on to the list.

Some good out of state accepters that I've heard so far include..
UVA
Univ of Iowa

and ones pretty much to avoid for out of state..
Arizona
almost anything in Calif

I believe that MCW takes out of staters to make up 50% of its class and UCONN takes 20%.

umich, mcv, vermont, osu

just because they take a lot of out of state doesnt make it easy to get into (umich)

I suggest purchasing an MSAR.

UPitts is a good one, so is U of Chicago Pritzker. UNewMex and UMass, forget 'em.

A lot of U of State schools accept few out-of-staters because they are public institutions (funded by state taxpayers).

UVM also takes alot of out of state.....

but for the most part any private school will if you are willing to pay.

Sorry but since when was UChicago public?

You're right, it's not. Sorry! But it's worth applying to! Less expensive than a lot of state schools for non-residents.

he didn't ask for a list of public schools. just schools that accept many out of state applicants. mcw isn't public either

I think if your MCAT and GPA are above the average you have a good shot because you make money for the school and you raise their stat average... I got interviews at U of Miami and U of Illinois which have averages in the 9.0 area... and also OHSU now but I'm not sure what their MCAT range is like.

Ohio State told me that they receive so little money from the Ohio government now, that they don't really feel compelled to give preference anymore to Ohio residents. Plus, tuition there is damn cheap for you out-of-state types, because you can declare residency in Ohio after a year.

Here's a few I found while looking at the MSAR:

Stanford
UCSF
Yale
GW
Georgetown
Emory
Finch
Northwestern
Pritzker
Tulane
Johns Hopkins
Boston
Harvard
Tufts
Michigan
Mayo
St. Louis
Wash St. Louis
Creighton
Dartmouth
Columbia
Cornell
Mt. Sinai
NYMC
Duke
Wake Forest
Drexel
Jefferson
Penn St.
Penn
Pitt
Vanderbilt
Baylor
UTSW
Vermont
MC of Wisconsin

Hope this helps!

creighton for example takes alot of students from other jesuit colleges. A LOT.

so yeah. something to think about.

from what i've seen, most private schools have a pretty decent mix, while most public schools have a requirement to have at least 90-95% acceptance from within the state (ex: UF, MCG). with 100 students, that's 5 or 10 at most that get in from out of state.

I'll vouch for UVM taking a lot of out of state kids....a 1/3 of our 1st year class is from CA...we almost out-rank the native Vermonters. And I think it goes the same for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year classes....

I'm so glad I chose Loyola Chicago (yeah Jesuit schools) 🙂

UCLA has no preference between in state and out of state.
