Hey everyone,
Has anyone notice how Medicine and Dentistry bridge? Well, they do, and are the only two professions that bridge. Heres why: Medicine is the profession that focuses on systemic health and Dentistry is the profession that focuses on Oral health, both are needed to complete out overall health. Physicians have ignore the importance of oral health for a very long time, and that is why dentistry was born. But, now studies have been showing that oral health has been shown to impact systemic health (e.g. Heart disease, miscarriage, etc.)The bridge happens when the dentist or physician (in Europe etc) specialize in Oral Maxillofacial surgery, you see an Oral Surgeon is not only a dentist but a physician. This specialty makes the connection between systemic health and Oral health.
And so, if you think about it Physicians and Dentist are on Par in healthcare (for you guys that hate dentist)
Let me know if you disagree!
