I'll be applying for MCG next fall. Is there anyone here who has applied and been accepted? Any hints you can give me on what can do now to get in?
I'm a CPC - certified coder who has worked with Attendings and PA's on their inpatient, clinical and surgical documentation for 5 years. They said they'll accept this as medical experience. I still need pt care, so I'm killing myself shadowing 2 days a week and start volunteer work this month to get as many hours around pt's as I can. I'm also going through AHEC. From what I understand there is only a 10-1 shot of getting in, but AHEC lowers that.
I don't have the option of relocating and applying to another school.
PA is the only thing I want to do and am determined to reapply until I get in, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

AHEC stands for Area Health Education Center.

MCG works with AHEC and accepts 25 people through them a year.
They only accept 40 total, so that lowers the competition.
They hold your hand through school so to speak, and help with finances during rotations. In exchange you have to agree to work in your AHEC region for 2 years after school.
