Hey, I'm currently being rushed by a medical fraternity... I still haven't decided where I will attend medical school. Is there any real benefit to joining such an organization?

Being in one of those organizations is not going to boost your resume unless you have a leadership position in the future that you actually use productively. The only plus I might possibly see is having a network of people also interested in premed, but you could also get that from joining a regular premed organization (no rush period).

I mean being in a medical fraternity while in medical school. Some medical schools have greek lettered organizations, different from those one can join during undergraduate years. Specifically Jefferson medical college has about five or so fraternities (some co-ed). In fact some people who are in medical fraternities were in greek organizations during their undergraduate years. Funny, you think SDNers would be more aware...

I thought that whole "paying for friends" thing stopped in the undergraduate years. 😀
