Anyone have any opinions on which schools have the best opportunities for someone wanting to specialize in medical genetics?

I would find out where those residencies are and go there. I think ND is pretty good at this. But like i said you would have to find out where the residencies are and go there.

Not residencies per school. This is a very very small field still and not too many positions are available anywhere. There are 74 spots in the country according to the iserson book and 48 programs. Go to www.faseb.org/genetics This is the American College of Medical genetics- American Society for Human Genetics. They will be a much better resource than I could ever be.

I am interested in it somewhat but not necessarily a field I will pursue. Good luck with your endeavors.

UT-Houston is also good (where I am). Hope Northrup is the person to talk to there. I'm applying to combined Pedi/Medical Genetics residencies right now.
