My practice has been asked by a local malpractice (defense) attorney to review a case involving a cataract surgeon in another area of our state and a patient that had a poor outcome. The attorney is defending the cataract surgeon, whom I do not know personally.
The lot fell to me, the youngest partner, to be the one to review the case and give an "expert opinion" on whether the standard of care was followed, and the attorney asked me for my "schedule of hourly rates for medical/legal consultation". I don't really have an idea of how much I should charge per hour, as this is the first time I have consultated in such a situation.
Does anyone have any ballpark amount per hour in mind?
Thanks in advance!
