Medical spanish program

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
yeah, it would be really interesting to learn Spanish in the car. i am tired of listening to all those Indian songs on CD and the radio.

What are you talking about???

i thought you were talking about medical spanish CDs that you can listen to in the car - i would be interested in something of that sort if there was ever such a thing

Yes, there are quite a few of them. I was just wondering if someone tried one that they thought was particularily useful. Guess I was confused about the indian music comment...kind of out of left field.

The health sciences campus was bumping that night. You have NOOOOO idea.

I recommend the book "Manual for (Relatively) Painless Medical Spanish" by Ana Malinow Rajkovic, MD. I think it would be helpful for people who don't know much Spanish, and people who already speak well can still get a lot out of it.

in all honesty, real 'medical spanish' is actually quite useless. concentrate on good conversational spanish. the only 'medical spanish' you need in real life is identification of body parts and words for a few symptoms which you can get from any handbook. The only people that use medical spanish are doctors in spanish-speaking countries.

depending on your med school schedule if you're affiliated with an undergrad, just audit a course or two. you gotta be able to practice a language to learn it.

for audio learning there are the pimsleur series. they're quite expensive. i used a few sessions - they are repetitive so it's annoying at times but retension is good. it's definitely something you can mindlessly listen to in the car and still get something out of.

BUMP....

any good pocket medical spanish books? had high school spanish but long forgotten.
