Did You Ever Hear About Medical student syndrome?.
For e.g:
After examining patient with chest or any pain..U fell that u r sick & having that pain also.
When i asked,, they told me it's something called medical students syndrome!!
Any comments 🙂 .

Yeah, I had heard of it. Usually, I think, it involves thinking you have every disorder in the book after reading about them. I always thought it was similar to when those drug commercials ask, "Do you feel tired all the time?... You must have XYZ3#$@."

Future doc, where are you from?

Never heard of it before

It's essentially the hypochondria that occurs when a student studies or encounters a disease and subsequently becomes anxious that s/he may have symptoms of it. It usually goes away pretty quickly, but in some cases can be more severe.

I got that with "normal human development" I never went through the grabasstic teenage years (making me socially delayed). Guess I've been too respectful for too long. Adolescence can last into the 30's right?

I hope you don't think this justifies pedophilia.

I hope that was a joke.... it's to horrible to consider that there could be any justification for such an act.

Wait, who is they? Is this a real syndrome that commonly happens to medical students when they study too much? Or were they just joking?

I feel really tired and sick sometimes after hearing patients talk about whats wrong with them and sometimes feel anxious about not being able to function in the way they can't function and hearing whatever else is wrong but I thought that just has to do with me developing a lot thicker skin.

thankfully I never suffered this... I knew a number of people who got thier thyroid checked after learning about hypothyroidism becasue they were always tired.

Good luck getting taken seriously if you are a med student who actually does have a thyroid problem. My FP and endo both said "you're a med student, of course you're tired" and then ignored all of my other symptoms. I finally found a doc who didn't just go blow me off, listened to all of the symptoms, and started getting tx.

That all said, the med student syndrome is real, too  Boy, we can be suggestible.

I don't think this is right, but in my school, if one of us has a condition, we become guinea pigs, in a way, we learn about one another..you'll be surprised how many of us have a wee bit of scoliosis

That's funny, but I actually know of someone who was really run down their first year and went to the doctor and found out that they DID have hypothyroidism. They're on meds for the rest of their life. 🙁
