I don't think you should focus on bashing another profession. You should focus on why medicine is right for you not why engineering isn't.

I agree that it's probably better to focus on positive experiences, and avoid negativity in general. Plus, you never know when the adcom reading your essay might be a former engineer, or work closely with one, or have a loved one in the field, etc...
