I was seriously considering medicine, and then I was like dugh. How stupid could I be to enter the field of medicine? Sure, everyone likes doctors and they make good money and I am great at science. But I am also great at many other things. Medicine is for losers that have nothing else in life. Medicine is for people who would rather sit at home and study than do something more fun (something social even). Would I really like to give up most of my twenties to go to school all day and study all night and not even be able to have a life of my own? Or perhaps I would like to deal with the whole matching process and then get in to a ****ty residency where I can work 24 hour or more shifts along with 80 hour work weeks. That sounds like fun. Forget anything else in life that is cool, like having a family, sports, vacations, small trips, or whatever else gets you off. Sacrificing all that so I can be sleep deprived and not make good money until I am in my thirties, and then have to worry about malpractice, medicare and medicaid, insurance companies cutting medical costs, and any new government legislation. There are a few people out there cut out for medicine, they are complete dorks with nothing better to do with their lives, and for that I am thankful, we need people like them. For all you other people entering medicine so blindly, take a reality check before you dive into a field where work is your life, and all also takes a seat on the back burner. If you have any interests at all besides medicine, dont be a fool, pursue them. Someday you will be happy you did. Sure you may not have the respect and prestige of a doctor, but happiness in life is the only things that matters, quit kidding yourself.

And then there are those of us who need to help people.

Although I'm glad there are people like you. We need creative minds to craft the latest innovations in double-sided tape.

My wife will be hotter than yours.

Yeah...like oh my god...like totally for sure.

i will be a sugar mama 😉

My family doctor shows up at his practice maybe 1 day a week. His practice is so successful (and damn busy) that he literally does not work anymore. If it weren't for my dad being friends with him from his pharm sales rep days, I would never get an appointment there.

hahaha, lol, double-sided tapes. Or better yet, considering that your the chem stud maybe you can work for a pharmaceutical company and make some derivative of viagra, except this one makes your balls bigger. Imagine all the money and women you'd be getting then--greatly fulfilling. Big balls to all!

Dear OP,

I'm sorry that you were rejected from schools this time around, but don't feel so bad. Happens to a lot of people. You should consider reapplying next year.

Good Luck. 👍

A guy named "ChemStud" calling me a dork.
Heh. 🙄

That's the worst Personal Statement I've ever read. Although certainly different and attention-getting, you might want to try another draft...

Do you feel better now having said this? Sounds like someone is trying to further justify to themselves why medicine is no longer their dream- not that they can't get in and are not qualified like the "complete dorks", but because medicine is stupid! Well, whatever you have to say to make yourself feel better about yourself.

Sounds like someone needs to get laid. Hope you got your all sexual frustrations out on SDN. Feel better? Want a cigarette?

This sounds like a post just to get people stirred up, but I'll respond!! 🙄
First of all, becoming a physician is both an honor and a privilege! For God to call you to be a vessel through which HE can heal is one of the greatest things you can do on earth!! I am not a loser because I am going into medicine! On the contrary, I will have a highly fulfilled life because I am walking in God's purpose and His plan! I will pray for you that you find your purpose... 🙂

CeLo said it perfectly. A classic case of a true "loser" putting others down to silence the voices in their head that eat at them. "ChemStud"? Yeah, chemistry is really where the ladies and excitement are at. Try podiatry school, ChemStud, you would probably be more qualified and able to handle the workload. They are not that big on personality, I understand.

Hahaha, travellindoc! You hit the nail on the head. Maybe ChemStud feels too inferior to the smart women that he would meet in med. school.

It's nice to know that spirtuality has not left from you after dealing with some of these threads on here. They can truly make you loose your religion. I have lost mine several times yet when I ask for forgiveness god hears my cries. Ain't god good? God is good. All the time. And all the time. God is good.

Why is assuming that he is someone who got rejected from every school? Just smells like a troll to me...

And I certainly don't think people flaming the OP should be insulting other fields of medicine. Not cool either.

Medicine requires dedication. If you seem to have issues staying focused, then go do something else.

...and yet here you are, on the Student DOCTOR Network.

Good call. That's what it sounds like to me too.

Spirituality is something that you can never lose if you really have it! No one on this forum can make me deny God, because I know that HE is the true healer and I can do nothing without him!! There are many arrogant physicians out there, but I'm yet to see one raise someone from the dead, wake themselves up, make the sun rise, or walk on water!! But my God can!! And yes...God is good all the time and all the time God is good!!!

wow, this thread got a lot of responses fast... including some deeply spiritual and religious ones. Go figure.

I recently saw an essay contest for a scholarship that had something to do about spirituality and religion. Despite the fact that I am pretty indifferent when it comes to religion, I think I am going to enter. Why not put that 8 years of Catholic school to good use. If I find the link, I will post it here so maybe some others can have a shot at winning some money for school.

Let's not get so worked up. It's an opinion of someone who you don't know, will never meet because if you did I'm sure he wouldn't introduce himself as his alias, and don't know his motivations. Personally I play harder than I study. I have a gift of sitting with a book for 5 to 6 hours with no problem. Yet I can also be found at the club tearing it up for 5 to 6 hours also. I guess we're all nerds because we enjoy studying. THat is the main reason people hated me in highschool. I had a very high g.p.a but I was the most popular, rowdy, athletic and finest girl in the school ( don't hate me because I'm beautiful). I could be found ditching class with them in the gym but I remained on honor roll. I was very known and a loud mouth. So much for being a nerd. Hey to each their own. I am well rounded and I am sure many of you are too. Maybe that's why when people find out I'm going to med school they look at me strange.
