I know Meharry is a HBC but I have met/worked with a few great doctors from there...I would like to know how the class is broken down by race (ie)
Hispanic, Black, Asian, White, etc

Thanks :luck:

And what, pray, is a HBC???

Historically Black College

I've hung out with some kids from there. about 90% that i've met have been african american. and the other 10 are asian. I've never met a Caucasian that went to school there. but that doesn't mean there isn't one! and honestly, I liked the people. one thing u might wanna think about, there was an issue that the school was actually sueing one of it's students for something. I'm not sure but I read it in a paper somewhere (I went to vandy for undergrad) so i'd look into all that stuff like accredidation and such.

There were 11 total interviewees in my interview group: 2-3 African-Americans, 3 Asians (Indian), and 5 Caucasians. Interestingly enough, it was an all-male interview group. As for the class profile, I would say it was about 80% A-A, 5% Caucasian, and the other 15% Asian and Hispanic.

Despite what some people think of Meharry (Interviewfeedback does not pain a highly favorable picture of the school), I think they have a very solid program and would certainly consider going there, and I am not an URM.

I'm a current student at Meharry and my class is made of 80 students. The breakdown is as follow: 7 caucacians, 6 asians (3 indians, 1 korean, 1 vietnamese, and 1 japanese), 4 hispanics and the rest are African American. People come various states including a few from Canada. Anyway, that is what I can remember right off the top of my head so I might be missing one or two people but no more than that.
As far as you saying "I know Meharry is a HBC but I have met/worked with a few great doctors from there......" What the heck do you mean with that??????????????

Has anyone heard from Meharry post-'Acceptance Range?' I was put in the range in January and havent heard anything. Curious to see if they have started to select from the 'acceptance range'

^ are there more males then females there?

No, just that my interview group happened to be all guys. In fact, according to the MSAR, recent classes at Meharry have been at least 50% women.

that's what i thought. That's why the all men part sounded a little unusual to me.

Hey everyone,

I applied to Meharry in November and I still haven't heard anything from them...but I heard that they have a post-bac program for those who applied who have "potential" but did not gain acceptance. Does anyone know when people who are accepted into this program are notified? The waiting is really making me uneasy!!!! I think they accept about 20 people into this program.

I believe that they will let you know in May at least that is what they told me considering my app is on "hold pending on the applicant pool."
