do we have to know it in detail? I'm using a 2005 version of TPRH bio and there are ~5 pages on it, but I don't see it on the AAMC topic list, or mcat-review.org

I would probably know what hormones rise when and where. Those AAMC folk love to riddle stuff off about hormones, in particular when stuff rises and falls. Good luck studying.:)

My understanding is that it's covered under the endocrine. So yes.

A. Endocrine System: Hormones
1. Function of endocrine system (specific chemical control at cell, tissue, and organ levels)
2. Definitions of endocrine gland, hormone
3. Major endocrine glands (names, locations, products)
4. Major types of hormones

B. Endocrine System: Mechanisms of Hormone Action
1. Cellular mechanisms of hormone action
2. Transport of hormones (bloodstream)
3. Specificity of hormones (target tissue)
4. Integration with nervous system (feedback control)

\Yes, definitely know it - the AAMC guide is only that!
