I met with the D.O who is going to be writing me a letter of reccomendation today, I talked to him about some of the schools that I applied to, he asked me what areas of medicine I am interested in, and then I asked him about the COMLEX, versus USMLE. We also talked a bit of what kinds of conditions D.Os have to deal with in the workplace, and DO residencies and the intern year after med school.
He invited me for lunch on Thursday, so I want to know, what are some of the other things that I should bring up? He has a phD, so I can talk to him about that a bit, but was also thinking about talking about sports and that kind of stuff. Other then that, I really do not know what else we can talk about. please give me some suggestions.
This guy is a pathologist, so all he does is look at tissue samples all day, he even admitted, one of the farthest things from Osteopathic medicine. So, in 2ndry apps.you are asked a lot about your experience with osteopathic medicine, so I cannot really say much there. Would you reccomend finding another D.O to shadow as well??
However, I did shadow a Chiropractor once, and they use a lot of the OMM (they do not call it that). Is that something I can talk about? Please let me know what you think.
