I have a quick question for anyone who interviewed at MGH. Are people writing a thank you note to every member of the interview panel plus the program director? There wasn't much of an opportunity to really get to know any given individual on the panel, so I am curious to hear other people's opinion/approach. Thanks and good luck.

How does the interview panel work?

5 ppl (4 docs and one resident) just ask u questions and answer urs, just like any other interview. its really not much different aside from the fact that they know ur CV very well, which i thought was nice. while it sounds intimidating its actually very relaxed.

In general I recommend sending a thank you note only to people with whom you made a significant connection.

The problem with that approach is that, in the group interview at MGH, everyone basically gets one or 2 questions that you answer in front of everyone. There's no chance to build a rapport and chat about stuff like you have with individual interviews.

On the upside, the group format is not nearly as frightening as it sounds before you get there, the day is over faster and you only have to answer "do you have any questions for me?" (and other generic questions) one time.

FWIW OP, I sent a TY note to the chair and emails to everyone else (and the chair as well).

I think you're fine just sending one to the Panel Chair. Alternatively, you can just send one to Dr. Bazari (which is what I did). As a side note, if you are ranked to match, it is usually the Panel Chair who will call you, not Dr. Bazari.
