Hi!
I realize that any research helps for fellowship applications. I've got a quite a few basic science heme/onc middle authorships but no 1st/2nd authorships. How essential are the latter for top fellowship programs (however one defines "top")?
Bye/thanks!
Edit:
This thread is admittedly obnoxious-sounding; I just want to know how active I should be in terms of getting research done whilst in residency. I figure that if I'm aiming to publish something by the time fellowship apps are due, I should probably get something going as an intern, and my light months are unfortunately coming up soon. If 1st authorships aren't essential I'll be less of a tool about it.
