Has anyone got accepted from waiting list since Jan 2nd?
Everyone keep your hopes up and remember that this list moves a lot. There are less than 100 on the waitlist and ~50 will make it so the odds are in your favor if you have made it this far.
This year I heard that our school got a lot more deposits then expected, and that the class is actually almost all filled up.At least thats the word I heard from one of our faculty. Now how many of those are double deposit-ers we don't know, we'll have to see. You also have to factor in that they are interviewing January through March, so waitlisted people are competing with those applicants as well.
Personally I think people that are interviewing right now (January - March) have the upper hand then waitlisted people. Last year I heard some of my classmates got accepted on the day of their interview after their interview was over (post Dec 1st interviews). So from this, I am assuming waitlisted people might have to wait till all the interviews are over. Thats my two cents from my observations, it could be wrong.
I'm not trying to make waitlisted people give up all hope, just trying to give more info of what occured last year, and what possibly to expect.
Good luck to you all!
There are 58 deposits confirmed as of 1/7/09.

What are you talking about?
Are you a current mwu dental student? I think you have totally wrong information.

u mean u might pick mwu over nyu? why?
Other way around
no...i meant wut i meant. u already have a deposit at nyu but u're still waiting for mwu's offer. so in the case mwu accepts u, there's a chance u might choose mwu over nyu. why?

This year's interview cycle isn't going like it did last year. They are waiting about 2 weeks before calling anyone after the interviews. Last year, some people were handed acceptances on the spot, not so this year. If your on the waitlist, you have an excellent shot of getting in. There will be calls and moves from now through the summer. Keep in contact with the school as there is no rank to the waitlist! Good luck guys I hope to see you all in the fall!

Is Midwestern everyone's number one choice? The school is amazing.
Does anyone else worry (a little) about how many patients they will be able to attract?
Yes, Midwestern is an amazing school, and it is my number one choice. I am not worried about the number of patients they will be able to attract. The population in Phoenix is large, and I am sure there are patients in dire need of dental services. When did you interview at Midwestern?
Jan 7th. The school is amazing along with its faculty. My second concern is the amount of patients they will be able to attract, and first is, will they accept us, soon.
Arizona has plenty of dental need, and I'm sure patients will not be a problem. Word will spread about the new clinic and all 111 of us will have our hands full. They're supposed to break ground on the clinic in about a year...can't wait to see and use it.
Interviewed on Jan. 6th. A little heads up for you guys, but don't count too much on this info unless you called MWU and confirmed. Dr. Simonsen told us that they're going to make a small movement by later this week.![]()

Any word on when, specifically, MWU will start 2nd round acceptances (pulling from alternative list)?
Best of luck to all!
I believe they said they'd start making decisions 2 weeks after the interview date. So, they should be coming really soon. Then, difficult decisions lay ahead...
I just spoke to Jenny at the MWU admissions office. She stated that the next round of acceptances should be going out later this week or sometime next week. She did not have any specific information with regard to when the ad. coms would meet (whether this week or next) but that when they do they will be reviewing all of the waitlisted applicants as well as the ones recently interviewed.
Hope that this helps.
Wow you read my mind! You were typing this answer as I was typing my question (above)
Thanks!

I interviewed on Jan. 7th. Does anybody know when the admission committee meets, or when I might know my fate at Midwestern? I received a positive comment from Dr. Polk after the interview. He told me "You should feel very good about your interview". In the meantime, I lay in wait......
Dr. Polk told said to me, "I am confident that we will be seeing each other soon" and I got a call on December 1st! SO EXCITED!
