Minnesota - Twin Cities

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I haven't interviewed there yet but have one scheduled the 9th of Nov. Would you be willing to provide some insight about your experience? Like/dislike, formal/informal, mega-stressful/mildly stressful/amiable, etc.?
Thanks

When were you completed at UofMN - TC. I have heard nothing from them since being complete 9/20.

I was complete on 9/26 and received my interview invite on 10/4. I was very surprised to hear back so quickly considering how slow they were with their secondary. A few of my friends, who have stats and experiences that are at least as good as mine, were complete mid to late september and they haven't heard anything yet so don't be worried. I hope you hear from them soon! 🙂

by the way, i'm an instate applicant

Complete 10/6, invited 10/14.

Don't get discouraged though. I called after watching my status remain incomplete for two weeks, and right after that they sent me a notice of completion (ie. < 1min after I called). It could be your file hasn't been thoroughly reviewed and a call could expedite the process.....or maybe not, but it's worth a shot.

I was complete AND got an invite on 9/2, but I think this is in part because the admissions office accidentally sent me the early decision secondary (which I filled out immediately) that says "you WILL be contacted to schedule an interview...", and they felt obligated. I interviewed on 9/23. They said they could not give send out decisions until after Oct. 15, so naturally now I am waiting "patiently".

Rjuza, I loved it. The best part of the whole day was spending time with the students. they were fun, normal, interesting people who all talked about having real lives outside of their schoolwork, but at the same time they raved about the U. Obviously dress was formal, but the atmosphere was relaxed, my interview was very conversational and mostly consisted of questions about things I had written in the secondary. Not too much pressure, and one of the things that they stress at the interview is how much screening is done of applicants to get to that point. About 60% of people who interview are accepted. This is why I hope they CALL ME ALREADY!@!!!

Thanks for all the responses. Though, all this information does it make me extremely nervous - since I was complete before most on here. Apparently I had some red flag or something. Doesn't look good. or otherwise y'all must be stellar applicants!

They don't even want to send me a secondary app. I got an email labeled "University of Minnesota MD application" but all it said inside was that they would review my AMCAS and decide whether to send me a secondary. If it does come, is it online or snail mail?

They send you a packet with information how to submit it online.

They send you a packet (snail) with information how to submit it online.

For those who have had interviews, do you mind telling us the following>

(btw, this is just for U of Minnesota applicants)

1) when did you submit your AAMC (verified?)

2) when did you receive/send out the secondary?

3) when did you hear about interview, and when did you interview?

Thanks a bunch and good luck to all!! 👍

1) 7/29 AAMC Ver
2) 9/17 Submit Secondary
3) ??

Thanks for the info hildaluc. I look forward to my opportunity at the school, and good luck to you in the waiting game. Let me know if you get in or not. Also, what are your stats if you don't mind me asking?

To the last question (though partially answered earlier) :

AMCAS verified : 7/26ish
Secondary: 9/12
Completed 9/19 by me ; 10/6 verified complete by them
Invited for interview 10/14
Interview scheduled 11/9

Also, I'm a Wisconsin resident. <My intention is not to pour salt in the wound of MN residents with that tidbit, so please don't take it that way. I'm only trying to be informative.>
