How do med schools look upon minors? I heard somewhere that there's not even a space on the application for minors. I'm a chem major looking into minoring in biotechnology. I'm really interested in it, and I'm not doing it just to have it look good. I also figure that since I'm going to be taking bio classes for the MCAT, I might as well put it toward something.

There is a space and they are important. GPA is more important though...so make sure you can keep your GPA up with the extra work.

How important are they?

I have a minor in Nueroscience and most schools didn't even notice it. It was a very small line in the app. If you do do a minor, I highly recommend mentioning it in the personal statement, b/c it could be overlooked otherwise.
