I am just curious, but are there any molecular biology majors in here?

I also just switched from Chemical Engineering to Molecular Biology....a step down a little but that is ok!

 you keep thinking that ;)

Anyway, on a more serious note, I'm a Biochem/Mol bio and Neurosci major. I was so excited when I leared I wouldn't have to be a regular bio major: not that I have anything against bio, but the truth is I couldn't care less about zoology, ecology, botany and other wonderful 'macro'-oriented disciplines - all of which are required from bio majors (at least at my school). For me, the real interest, as well as power, lies in the molecular aspects of both biology and physiology. And, since I'm especially interested in the brain, I think my majors compliment each other quite nicely. It's the closest I can come to molecular neuroscience as an undergrad.
The funny thing is that here my major (biochemistry and molecular biology) actually requires more classes than a double biology-chemistry major  I'm pretty sure they'll have to change that (people are having a really tough time), but it works for me. I have to say I'm not uncomfortable saying I feel very well prepared as far as molecules go :D

Not putting Molecular Biology down or anything, but at my school it is well known that Chemical Engineering is probably the hardest major at the school. I changed because I wanted a better background in the biological sciences for when I do go to medical school.

    I was just kidding.

Actually, I promise you Chem. eng. would be a much harder major for me (as would English, for that matter :D ). I think it has to do with how interested one is in the material, and I also think that it depends on the school (credit hour req, etc.). As I said, personally, I don't think mol.bio is too bad - but I know people who would disagree.
But, I do agree that there are things that are generally harder than others (i.e. pchem vs. genchem). I would be the last to argue that Chem eng. is easy. :hardy:

So, how do you like molecular?

Haha I wont know until next semester! Right now I am doing a co-op....my last one. I seriously think that it will be a much easier major for me because the concepts are much easier to grasp than some chem e concepts. I also enjoy this and hate chem e.
