Yellowman, great hearing from you! Listen, didn't you apply/purchase a DEA # during your OMFS intern year? One of my good bud who interviewed with me at CWRU is going to your intern, actually both of your incoming interns interviewed with me in the second group! Great guys you guys are getting.

Just curious why you don't have a DEA # during your intern year?

Hey yah-e....good to hear from you as well!! Congrats on LSU acceptance....So anyways, yes I did apply, but because of wreb score report not being sent in on time (due to the mail getting lost) my license has been delayed....and you can't get your dea# until you have your license. But the good news is, all my stuff is finally in now, and I should hav my license by end of this month. As for dea#, I use dea# given to me by teh university hospitals, so I can still prescribe whatever I want....as long as they are hospital patients that is...so it works out.

Oh yeah, the incoming interns are a good bunch of guys....one of them is going to be DDS, MD, PhD! 😱 crazy...

i am sure they are hating life studying for step I right now though

There's a strict policy against moonlighting here...

Med school is the easiest part of OMFS residency because you have no responsibilities. I moonlighted 20-30 hours a week during med school.

For 6 yr OMFS peeps, did you guys have time during 3rd yr med school for moonlighting? What are your experiences?

Depends on the medical school and their expectations of medical students. ie weekend call and the amount of notice they give you regarding your off days. I am in 3rd year and have actively moonlighted the entire year. It was alot easier moonlighting during my second year of med school. It has been difficult at times to get enough notice to schedule patients, but you should be able to average a few days a month. It is easy to get burned out when you spend most of your off-days moonlighting.

How do you guys go about finding a job to moonlight? I didn't go to dental school here so I don't really have any contacts.

Ask the upper levels.... I have heard some of the LSU NO residents have some good jobs...
