I already know that some people have had no interviews yet. What's the most that anyone has had or has been invited to schedule?

OK, nobody wants to start so i will. I have had 2 interviews and have another six scheduled for a total of eight. I know somebody must have many more than that.

If only interview invites guaranteed an acceptance, you'd have eight acceptances. But they don't. I think the No Interview Club was kinda formed so they could support each other and kinda laugh off their troubles. Try modesty... it may help you in the long run.

^ its probably curiosity more than anything else, I don't think this guy means to brag. in any case, i'm guessing that anyone who has more than 8 interview invites is too busy to post on a message board

these things seriously suck the life out of you. i've only had a couple interiews and between them and school, I am soooo burned out.

it's not arrogance driving my question, it's anxiety. I'm well aware that interviews don't translate automatically into acceptances and I'm just wondering what the range is in terms of number of interviews so that I can try to assess my own chances of getting in. I'm concerned that I'll finish "second best" in all my interviews and not get in anywhere.

Your title confers a bit of competition...

If you were interested in the volume of interviews by other SDNers you could have just checked the Interview Invite thread to get a raw guestimate.

well...if the schools accept about 1/4 of the students they interview, your chances are looking pretty good. 🙂 i think its pretty rare that someone with 8 interviews will be rejected from all of them (although I'm sure there are a few SDN horror stories out there)

Good point regarding the title of my thread. What it actually should have read is "how many is enough to be safe?" but that's a little awkward.

I'm not confrontational... although there have been quite a number of posts I'd like to have put my 2 cents in.

I've only gotten 3 interviews. But I think that'll be enough anyway.

Good luck

This is one of those instances where the debated mdapplicants.com can be of service...

I have 11. I'm not bragging, I'm just answering the question. I turned in my application on the first day possible, and I applied to LOTS of schools. I didn't want to risk having to apply again next year.

I read lots of those SDN horror stories... that what motivated me to save money and apply like crazy.

I have 2. Beat that biiiatches!!!! 😉

Seattle's got me topped, but I have 10! I'm so excited about how well this is going...

edit: invites:secondaries is a fair point to explore. so i'll amend my post to 10 invites currently out of 17 secondaries.

and yeah, you can look at other threads about interviews, or look at mdapplicants, but really it's just fun to have a thread dedicated to the topic. it's not arrogant, and it's not hurting anything. i'm looking forward to seeing the crazy guy who eventually posts here with 27 interviews!

i think it's also important to look at the invites:secondaries completed ratio

why? the OP was interested in invites: acceptances ratio

4 out of 13 apps. Before I got my first I was scared sh*tless cause you hear everyone else getting them, and you've got nothing. Now that they are coming, I can't help feeling greedy and wanting one everywhere. I just want an acceptance so I can put this 4 year process behind me. :scared: At least with an interview you know you have a chance at a school. Not getting one is so depressing.

The weirdest thing by far is getting an interview at some higher ranked school and then getting rejected or waitlisted by some school down on your list.

I gots 5 invites.

I'm at 11/19. Can we factor in degree of difficulty? 😛 😉

I applied last year, so no remarks about intimidation or competition. I'm none of your concern! 😉

That said, between September and February, I interviewed at 14 schools (out of the 24 I applied to) last year. It d-mn near killed me. But I got what I wanted out of the deal: I attend an awesome school in CA, and I'm at the same school as my SO. So in the end, it was worth it.

Wow, look at all you guys! hehe
I just got my 4th invite today, I've already been to one interview and the other 3 are being scheduled. I turned in 28 secondaries...so I'm hoping for a few more interviews 🙂

10...

disclaimer: ...but the problem with the question being asked is that it's not taking into account how many schools people are applying to, the types of schools or when everything was submitted. Don't get discouraged by people with 20 invites. 🙂

Yeah. This happened to me last week. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.

Well assuming I get at least one interview then that will have happened to me. My lowest ranked school, Hawaii, pretty much rejected me after a month with no secondary. Oh well, was just looking for an excuse for a Hawaiian vacation that I might still take. 😉

Anyone trying to push out the schools that you would rather not go to so that if you hear from a school you interviewed at early you can just cancel most of the rest?

I have 13 as well. Never thought I would be in this situation where I would turn down invites. It still makes me uneasy.

I'm definitely pushing some schools out more than others... I'm not allowing myself to speak ill of any of my schools (bad karma!), but yeah, if I get in to one of my top choices soon then I'll cancel some of the others. Imagine!

ih have 9 so far (with 7 completed), i'm in the mode of wanting to refuse interview now, because i just heard from Duke and so BU is an iffy... oh, and i turned in 16 secondaries.

i know one person on sdn that has 16 so far.
