Moving for partner's fellowship: when to tell my employer?

My partner just matched for a fellowship in another city. We're both very excited to move there in June.

I'm wondering how to best approach telling my current employer I'm leaving. We won't be moving for another seven months and I'm concerned my employer will let me go now if they know I'm planning to leave. My concern is I feel guilty hiding that I'm leaving.

How have other people dealt with this situation?

Thanks!

What is customary in your company and industry at your level?

in the business world it is my understanding that two weeks is common except at the executive level. Contracted employees usually have terms of separation included as part of their employment agreement.

six months notice where far less is required is foolish.
