I couldn't really find this in search so if it has been discussed on here before, I apologize. I would like to get a Master's Degree in Public Health before trying my hand at medical school admission. Is this a good idea or will it hinder me from getting acceptances?

It certainly won't hinder acceptance to medical school. Some adcoms will see it as a plus...especially if you also take the time to work in the field after you get the degree (or sometimes you can do this concurrently). I was told that my MPH was a plus on my application. Mine was in administration/policy and I also worked for a non-profit health-related organization.

If you're interested in public health, then go for it. If you're just doing it for some letters, don't bother.
