I have a MS in Community Counseling from a college in VT ( College of St. Joseph, w/ one year of practicum 600 hours of internship). I now work as a behaviorist in NY and have a supervisor who is a LMHC who is willing to provide supervision towards a LMHC license.

Is there any way that my degree could translate towards a LMHC license? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!

It may. Was it 60 credit hours? Is it accredited? Did you take all the requisite courses?

Read carefully through this: http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/mhp/mhclic.htm

You can also contact the board directly and ask them. But know- you will need 2 years full time of post-masters supervision, and need to study/take/pass the licensing test (which is a bit tricky). Then you have to apply of the license (which will take a while to gather your papers), and pay the state $371. I would allow at LEAST 9 months for the state to review your paperwork.

Goodluck.
