Congrats on finishing first year. I'm MS2, so even though I will be done May 9th, I won't get much of a break because I need to study for the boards (June 21st). I'm in a similar situation as Katie, I need a 67% to keep my B in this class, and I am worried that I can't even get that  . It's sooo difficult to study for a low grade.

You lucky ducks!! I won't be an MS2 until August!
KCOM goes year-round!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go have a beer this weekend at the beach club up in Seabrook!

When did you guys start the year?? We started on August 1 and we won't get out until June 14

We started in August - the 20th I think? Dont remember. We only got Christmas break, no other time off. We also start second year classes July 1 and go until next May 15. So...maybe your school distributes classes differently? We did 1) Gross Anatomy and Radiology til October, 2) Molecules, Cells and Tissues (histology, biochem, embryology, etc etc etc) until Christmas, 3) Pathobiology and Host Defenses until March 1, and 4) Neuroscience and Human Behavior until yesterday.

July 1, we start 10 weeks of cardio/pulmonary, which competes with neuro for being the "hardest" class here.

We got out for Xmas break, and we had a week off for Spring Break, but that's it. We did break things down a little differently.
1) Gross Anatomy and Medical Ethics until the end of October.
2) Biochem and History of Medicine until Xmas.
3) Physiology and Medical Cell & Tissue Bio until Spring Break
4) Neuroscience, Clinical Nutrition, and Behavioral Science until we get out in June.

We also are doing a course called Intro to Clinical Medicine the whole year where we practice taking histories and doing physical exams on patients.

We don't start our second year until September 3 and I think we start w/ Path and Pharm.

We have four more weeks to go, too bad I'm suffering from end of semester laziness .

This year we had 8 weeks of biochem/cmb/gnetics, 8 weeks of anatomy/embryology, 8 weeks of neuro/psych, 10 weeks of physio and histo, as well as a year long practice of medicine course.

Good luck Katie  , in two more weeks you can burn your scrubs!

I thought we had the one of the longest years from July 30 (1st day of orientation) until June 7, which is our last day. Sorry Hercules, it looks like you guys take the cake...

I want to go abroad this summer and have fun, but I don't know where I am going to get money for it. Maybe I will put it all on my credit cards. Good luck next year ibis, although you don't need it, school is not that hard and it's a lot of fun.

•Only 5 more weeks for me. What's everyone doing this summer?? :D •••••Because I'm crazy, I'm gonna stay in Syracuse for another 9 weeks for bench research right after school finishes. Hopefully in the remaining 3 weeks I can scrounge some money up for some travel in southern Europe :) .

Forgot to say it in my earlier post, but congrats Starflyr on finishing up your first year... I feel your 1st year pain, and I will relish the summer break once my time comes in June... as someone in your boat this time last year (facing the prospect of starting medschool this past fall), I remember some of your posts and thought you deserved a congrats... good luck on MS2!

Yeah, I'll be doing research this summer, too :(
I'd like to do some traveling, but I'm getting married so I need to make some more money to finish paying for the honeymoon, and the research pays pretty well.

June 24th is the magic freedom day for me!!!!
This summer will see a lot of sailing and rock climbing in the Puget Sound!!!
Now, back to Midterms.........

well, classes are done; I just need to await the verdict on Anatomy for a few more days. It was a HARD final, but I checked my answers with my friends after the exam and matched with one or both of my friends on 60/85 questions, and both of them are smart students so that's not a bad sign, right? I did pass Hematology (a joke), and found out Friday that I passed Physiology, which is one of the harder first year classes at Tufts. 11 people in my class failed Physio this year; I'm relieved that I wasn't one of them though I feel bad for them too. As for the summer, I intend to do nothing except shadow a doc for a few days a week back home in Baltimore if I am fortunate enough to have passed everything. This is my last chance to relax and go on a few short trips for a few years so I'm taking full advantage of it :D .

argh, what is taking Tufts so long to grade my exam.. they did the exam in multiple choice/scantron format so it would take less time to grade and they STILL don't have the grade! ARGH!! I am still VERY nervous in case you can't tell. I know it wouldn't be the worst thing that happened to anyone if I failed anatomy, but I would feel completely stupid (even though 2 of my friends who were 4.0 students in college who attend other medical schools failed it and had to repeat) if that happened.

Good luck Katie! How much is the practical and didactic portion weighed? Do you get finals for all of your classes?

Nine more days and counting!
