Hi, I'm an undergrad Bio major at Duke University, and am beginning to consider becoming an NP rather than an MD (mostly for the sake of my future personal life, and for my current sanity as a "pre-med"). I don't intend on becoming an RN before entering grad school, and so am interested in the MSN accelerated programs which give a 1.5 year crash course before taking the NCLEX. Does anybody know how common these programs are? Will I have a problem finding a decent program in various geographical locations?

Thank you!

They are becoming more and more common - there are a lot of accelerated BSN programs now for those already with a bachelor's and also bridge programs where you can get both your BSN and MSN. Here is a website that lists nursing schools and you can do a search to locate some programs (I think Duke actually has an accelerated BSN and also a bridge program by the way). http://www.allnursingschools.com/

You may also find this forum helpful for you to learn more about nursing: http://www.allnurses.com/

Good luck!
