Also, for the PhD years, will my international status affect grantwriting in anyway? I can still apply for NIH grants?

The main MD/PhD funding mechanism for MD/PhDs is the F30. International students are not eligible. Don't feel bad, it only covers a few select types of research anyway.

I'm still very interested in hearing about any other grants for which MD/PhD students are actually eligible. Please be specific and do your own research before telling everyone about an MD/PhD grant, as I've spent a decent amount of time chasing down grants that no longer fund MD/PhDs or never seemed to in the first place.

I'm assuming since the program is fully funded, I won't need to prove I can pay for like the first year or anything right?

You should clarify this with your program.
