much needed advice about applying...please help!!

hi, knowing that you guys have all gone through the application process i was hoping you can help me....i did not meet my expectations on the mcat (i got a 28 but i was averaging 32-34 on the practice) and so i will be retaking it in the summer.....i will be applying this month and i was just wondering, can the medical schools reject me or do they have to wait till my august scores to arrive before they make a decision? i'm sure there's a lot of people who were in the same boat as i am so i hope to get some feedback from you guys...thanks a lot
