Hello, everyone!

So, I'm getting a little nervous with my letters of recommendation. I'm planning on applying this cycle. I asked my first choice (A-, biochemistry) and was turned down. It's too bad, but it is what it is. So now I'm moving forward. I just want to get this straight - I need TWO letters from a science professor, ONE from a dentist, and ONE from a research coordinator or non-science professor? Because I have a layout of potential letters, and I just sent emails to these people hoping they will respond and say yes. Will the following letters get me anywhere:

Science
1. Ecology (A, just emailed professor right now)
2. Anatomy (currently taking the class now, but I attend OH every week and sit next to professor; he knows my name, knows me, etc.)

Dentist
3. General Dentist (I have about 15 hours with him, but about 140 total; he has already agreed to write it for me!)

Non-Science
4. Upper-Division English (A-, just emailed professor right now, she said yes and it will probably be one of the most amazing letters in the world because we talk and meet all the time and she only gave 5 A's (all A-'s) to 40 students in her class and I was one of them; she really does love me and admires me and could write a great letter!)

What do you all think?

As for my GPA, it's about a 3.4 cumulative and a 3.25 science. My DAT scores are 21 TS, 23 AA, 23 PAT. I'm just telling you my "numbers" if it helps you make a decision about the quality of my letters!

Thanks, guys! 😀

I'd imagine you'll be fine with letters from those professors/dentist. Of course it all depends on the strength of the text within them.

you should make an appt with the professors and ask them face to face. its more personal and i would say they are less likely to say no. if they say yes i would have a folder ready to give them with a copy of your resume, transcripts, a draft of your personal statement, and a stamped/addressed envelope.

Yeah, I was planning on bringing those with me anyway! Thanks 🙂
