If I am interested in specific school's MD/MBA programs, do i check the box that says "Combined MD/Graduate" for each of the schools? Or is there another way to tell these schools that I am interested in their MD/MBA programs.

You have good MCAT but your GPA of 3.4 is low for a CA resident. Don't want to hurt your feelings, but you have too many reach schools. e.g. Miami requires a minimum of 3.6 GPA for OOS applicant. UCSF, Chicago, Northwestern, Standford, Michigan are long shots.

How about add a few more low tiers and DO schools as safeties?

I wouldn't advise DO applications unless you actually want to be a DO, but I agree with the above poster.

The MSAR ($25) will save all of you guys a lot of money.

Agree a 3.4/32 doesn't necessitate DO unless you want it (rather than are concerned about competitiveness). But you probably want to dump a few of hte top ranked schools in favor of some more non-state-schools at the other end of the US News list.

you a URM? if not drop Michigan. if yes drop Meharry.

Your list is very similar to mine and I'm a CA resident too. The $1000+ fee hurts doesn't it? Good luck.

And for the UCR program you have to be an undergrad at UCR to qualify.

I do have the MSAR... but how did u guys know which schools require what from OOS applicants? I don't really wanna do DO, unless its my last option.

There are several ways to tell.

1) Mission statement - some schools say that they are meant to benefit thier state, which usually means they are NOT OOS friendly.

2) High OOS/In-state applicant ratio but inverse high In-state/OOS matriculants. Definitely NOT OOS friendly.

3) Pretty much any school where less than 10% is from OOS.

As for determining the stats necessary for some of these schools as OOS, you need to be greater than the average to have a chance otherwise they'd pick some in-state resident over you.

Thus is the nature of the game!

37, thats a smart move

Just make sure you have enough time for all the secondaries

yeah the secondaries will hurt. just to give you a heads up, unless you are taking a VERY light load next semester you will not be able to complete secondaries, at least not with very much attention to detail. I think you should try to not get above 25 (with plenty of schools in your range).

by the way, how are your ECs? those make all the difference.

I am submitting this June 18th... so hopefully all secondaries will come over summer, where all I have is summer research. My PI wont care if I fill out secondaries at research.

As for my EC's... I have like 9 really strong ones (basically used a lot of the characters for each). I could add more but they would be just the crappy typical fillers.

Thats great! Because if your scores are not so impressive, outstanding ECs will open up a lot of doors.
