Hey everyone, I thought I would post this message just to give everyone a look into how bad things can really get. So, I asked a professor of mine for a letter of rec. at the beginning of summer. He said as long as my TA wrote it and he signed it, it would be okay. So, I give my TA the pertinent info. and wait to hear from him. Finally in late August, he says he has everything ready and will give it to the teacher before he goes on vacation. A couple of weeks later, I e-mail the teacher to see how everything is going, and he says he doesn't know of any letter. I wait till my TA gets back, and the poor guy runs around for a day or two to get everything together again and give it to the teacher. This time, the teacher says he can't sign it because he doesn't really know me! 😱 I mean, come on! He couldn't have figured out that he didn't know me three months ago so I could go find someone else? Whatever! 🙄
So, I decide to go to another teacher who taught the same class (different section) and she says she'll do it. So I run around and get her the things she needs. I check with her last Tuesday, and she says she's "sent them in". I am completely stoked because I think my nightmare is over.......But wait, it does get worse!!!!!! I keep checking my LOR file and it won't show up. Finally, I call the office today and the guy says, "Did she deliver it or send it by campus mail? Because campus mail takes about three weeks!" By this time I am ready to scream. I mean, how long does it take for one person in building A to deliver a letter to someone in building B? So now here I am, trying to get a hold of my teacher to beg her to sign and seal another copy so that I can pick it up and deliver it in person. Four months, three panic attacks, and half of an advil bottle later, I am waiting for my last letter of rec. so that I can finally start getting verifications and etc. Sheesh, what does a girl need to get some luck around here? 🙁
