Ha! Called this morning (submitted, certified and paid for 6/29 and still nothing), just my weekly "what is going on" call where they tell me that it will be done in "one to two weeks because we are just concentrating on June and July submitters now". After 45 minutes unnamed "specialist" picks up, I ask my question, she doesn't ask my ID number, just my name, twice, then asks me what my question is (again):

ME: Just wondering why my application still isn't verified. It has been over three months.

HER: (YELLING) Well, your application isn't verified because you never transmitted it!

ME: Ma'am, I don't understand why you're yelling at me. Do you even have my file up?

HER: (still YELLING) I am looking right at your file!!! I'm not yelling at you, you just think I am because I just told you something that you don't want to hear!!!

ME: Well, I've talked to a lot of people, about every two weeks actually since about July and no one has told me this before. Do you think I could talk to a supervisor or something?

HER: Yeah, whatever. (on hold) He's busy.

ME: Busy, so, I can't talk to him?

HER: No, he's talking to someone else or something right now. Is there anything else I can help you with?

ME: Do you think I could wait for the supervisor or talk to someone else who isn't yelling at me?

HER: (YELLING) Sure!

Silence.
Yes, she hung up on me.
Joy.

When I called back (of course I did), I got the name of the (new) specialist first off. She is "giving my number to the supervisor" but didn't know if he would actually call or not. He hasn't. Big surprise.

BTW If I COULD "transmit" my own app, don't you think I would just do it myself instead of paying AMCAS for abuse?

Wednesday, I'm a big fan of yours. Hang in there, don't let one specialist get you down. Sounds like she (the specialist) has big problems and we're all lucky not to be in her shoes. This AMCAS fiasco sounds very frustrating and I think it's way out of line for anyone to yell or hang up on you guys. But keep your eyes on the finish line - I know you'll get there and it's worth it. 😉

Here's my suggestion to you - call the AAMC number - not the AMCAS number - and ask to speak to the Director of AMCAS - her name is Nancy Tillinghast (sp?). You have to be firm with the operator who answers the phone to get to the Director. But, once you do, explain everything.... I did, and my app was processed that afternoon.... Be sure and have details of your past calls, what they told you, and what has not happened.

Wednesday,
Man, that's aweful! The more stories I read the more I feel depressed about my chances....not so much about the possibility of getting rejected, but rather just having the chance to be considered at all!!!!
I hope you will write the Director as others have suggested! Keep us posted on the response!
Take care and Good Luck!

Zack you are my hero! Thanks so much for the advice. After a few tries I finally got Nancy Tillinghast on the phone Tuesday morning and was verified today. What a relief.

Can someone post the AAMC phone number? Thanks.

Good luck.

i've had the same horrible luck dealing with amcas as you guys...wed. : im glad they finally verified your application! you deserve it after that conversation...

so i submitted on 7/7 and still nothing...i got the nancy woman on the phone today...she was the most helpful amcas person ive talked to so far...she promised me my app. would be verified by tomorrow evening...let's pray she's telling the truth

i'll let you guys know if it actually works-
it seems like she's higher up on the amcas ladder, so maybe she can have some influence (crossing my fingers...)

thanks for the number wednesdsay...

AMCAS claims they still haven't received my transcript yet. I've had it sent 3 times (first time in June) and they still don't have it. I submitted on 7/10 and I don't know if app will ever be verified at this point. I'm not sure what else to do because the "specialists" don't help at all.

Wednesday, Saffron:

I just tried calling Nancy Tillinghast. The operator put me right through to her line, but I got her voice mail. Did you try calling several times or did you leave a message and she called you back?

Thanks!

I left a message the first time on the admin. assistant's voice mail and never heard back, but I didn't expect to. Wrote two emails and got no reply. Then I just happened to call when she was in the office. Did you tell her your AAMC # and story on the message you left? I don't know if she'll call back or not.

I just left a message saying that I was having problems with my AMCAS application, but I didn't give any specific info. I didn't give my AAMC #, but probably should have.

hmmm...I'll probably just keep calling until I catch her in her office.

Thanks
