I heard there have been studies showing how different personality types have a tendency to go into different specialties. It sounds kinda interesting just from a psychological standpoint. Anyone have any info on this?

If there were some good correlations, I think that would be pretty telling of the distribution of personalities in different specialties.

I stumbled upon this book "The Ultimate Guide to Choosing a Medical Specialty" by Dr. Brain Freeman, that devotes a chapter to this topic. Pretty interesting stuff. 🙂

Thanks 👍 Looks interesting, think I'll check it out.

Myers Brigs is crap for that
Cloninger scale is far better to use

and WTF - where's cardio, oncology, and the other million fields?

Cardio is under "Cardiovascular Diseases." Perhaps some other specialties didn't have a big enough n in this study to be shown in the table.

Is there a Cloninger test online?

at first this looks like a load of crap, but after i thought about it for a few minutes and considered my type, i realized these are actually specialties i strongly consider. and the ones i hate are on the bottom... so maybe this is a decent study
