Is anyone else getting frustrated by the myths about our specialty that just won't die. Here are my favorites:

1. Emergency physicians burn out quickly

2. EDs are crowded because of (pick your favorite wrong answer):
-Low acuity patients who should be going to their PCPs instead
-Uninsured aliens who are destroying our health care system
-Inefficient and prolonged ED work-ups

3. Keeping patients out of emergency departments is a priority to reduce the cost of health care.

4. Training in emergency medicine isn't really that important if you want to practice the specialty.
