I was wondering if anyone knows how competitive the Health Science Corps Service
scholarships was. I would really love to attain this scholarship and use it to pay for my acceptance to medical school. I would like to hear from anyone about this topic and other service scholarships. Just jump on in and let me know what you think about them and how well you like them.

I do not know the stats, but it is a pretty competitive program. I was initially on the waiting list this year, then I got off the list (someone turned it down).

There are probably some criteria that will help your chances:
    1. growing up in an underserved area.
    2. volunteer or service related work with underserved people.
    3. volunteer work of any kind.
    4. *** they NEVER ask what your grades or MCAT scores are! ***
    5. KNOW that you want to do primary care, you can not be wishy washy on this subject.
    6. present yourself with good communication skills and a good knowledge of the NHSC and health care system in general at the interview.
