I was wondering if completion of either of the Navy HPSP or HSCP contracts respectively would disqualify you from taking advantage of Naval Reserve benefits in the future? Just a thought.

I am just curious, but to paint a scenario:

If I accept HPSP, and complete my 3-5 yr service obligation after dental school, will it affect any eligibility for additional benefits if I decide to continue to serve in the Naval Reserve? Will the fact that we are still on IRR for remaining of our 8 year contracts interfere with our ability to sign new active reserve contracts?

The reason I ask is that technically all HPSP students have 8yrs total service time with about half of that as IRR. Does that IRR time interfere from joining active reserve and/or reserve benefits from the above link?
