Is anybody here involved with any of the armed forces programs that forgive your debt and give you a career as a doctor/officer within any division of the armed forces? I've specifically heard about such a program in the navy, and I'm interested in talking to someone involved with any of them. I'll be entering med school this fall.

They have a program where you join while you are in residency and agree to serve once you have finished. It's called the financial assistance program (I think) FAP. They give you something like 30 grand a year, but it is taxable. I know that if you are a regular post residency docs, you can get big cash bonuses for signing up, but i don't know the details.
