both the questions are confusing,as the correct ans given in kap..but it is right
ans for 1 is B because coeff. of thermal expansion is not same as amalgam and colour stability is same as unfilled resin only that they are not strong enough as filled resin and also unfilled resin have high thermal expansion than filled resin.

ans for 2 is 2mm

I thought the answer for 1) is B too , but the text I am referring to says answer is C .. obviously wrong - just thought to cross check ..

some more..
3 ) Two adjacent cavities involving the contact may be prepared and restored with composite resins in the same appointment as-
A. The chances of maintaining the contact are greatly enhanced
B.The can be packed using one mix
C.this conserves operating time.
D. placement and finishing can be completed in the same appointment.
E. All the above.

4) A young patient receiving endodontic therapy on the maxillary left central incisor. The tooth now is indicated for an esthetic pin retained restoration as interim treatment. Which of the following kinds of pins may be used.
I. Self threading pins
II Friction lock pins
III Serrated cemented pins
IV Self shearing pins
V. Non serrated cemented pins
ANSWER - A. I , III B. I , V C. II , III D. II , V

2) Pulpal irritation would not be expected from a restorative material , provided the minimum thickness of the material was
A 0.2 mm B. 0.5 mm C. 1 mm D. 2 mm E. 3 mm

Dental restorative materials are designed to have coefficient of thermal expansion that are close to that of tooth structure. Amalgam and composite resins have similar coefficients of thermal expansion. The ans is C.

this question is little bit confusing
as finished surface of composite is smooth. but compared to unfilled resin it is rough.

I thought the answer for 1) is B too , but the text I am referring to says answer is C .. obviously wrong - just thought to cross check ..
4) A young patient receiving endodontic therapy on the maxillary left central incisor. The tooth now is indicated for an esthetic pin retained restoration as interim treatment. Which of the following kinds of pins may be used.
I. Self threading pins
II Friction lock pins
III Serrated cemented pins
IV Self shearing pins
V. Non serrated cemented pins
ANSWER - A. I , III B. I , V C. II , III D. II , V
E. III , IV F. III, V

On an endo treated tooth there is no need to use any type of pin that require additional drilling (pilot drill) into tooth structure. Serrated pins would be prefered over non serated cemented pins (for retention). In actuality cemented posts are a better alternative.

Hey!!!

What is the similarity between lateral periodontal cyst and primordial cyst??

i think the ans is residual cyst, since lateral periodontal cyst is an inflammatory cyst and when present at the apex of the tooth its called residual cyst. primodial cyst is one that doesn`t have calcified tissue.
