equal flow means that the heart and lungs must get the same amount of blood flow. This way, the heart never pumps any unoxygenated blood to the circ system just because it never went to the lungs.

Normally, the lung is a low-resistance and high compliance system. Low resistance has to do with the length the blood has to travel in the pulm system and the smaller cappillary beds.
