looks like your new to this site....if you read some posts you would know for yourself if you have to retake this test or not??
there is so much competition that a score of 83 would not take you or anyone anywhere. i know it sounds harsh but frankly there is no choice. they want all of us to get atleast 90........maybe some lucky ones get in with 80's.
keep reading the posts you would know for yourself.
sorry!!!

I sure do agree with our friend. Go ahead and try to improve your score Randiv. It doesnt hurt in applying with 83 because you are eligible. But expecting to get in would be a rare chance........ I am just giving my opinion.
All the best in whatever you plan on doing 👍

Others are right, you probably will not score a spot with an 83.
But just so you know, I got interview calls from USC and NYU with an 84 last year...I probably would have gotten into USC but I F'd up big time on the practical test!!

So there is always hope, BUT an 83 is really pushing the limits...so I would say go ahead and apply but also get ready to retake it.
good luck

Hi randiv,

i am also in the same boat as you are. I got a score of 85 in part 1. I have a decent gpa and toefl score and wil be graduationg soon with a masters degree in public health. I am now totally confused as to do what? retake part 1 or start preparing for part 2?

What do you all advice

Cheers

As a part time job, i worked for one year in a place which conducts health/dental camps etc. So hoping to get a gud reco letters. I have the same part 1 score but am retaking the part1.I must say though that I have cleared the part2 so part 2 or 1 is a choice you would have to make.I know one thing- most places are looking at the part1 score and right now you have the time to change that before application dealines.Ultimately the decision does rest with you.

Hi Friends,

Even if you deicide to take the exam again or give part 2 what I will reccomend is to apply to schools (who knows you mught be lucky), while retaking part 1 get some research experience, observership, hands on... these things add up to application a lot.....

I have a 3.91 GPA , 108 TOEFL, Good recco letters from dentist here. I was interviewed last year with 83 at 3 places, did not make it. gave part 1 again and landed up to 85 again interviewed at 4 places. Finally got in at 3 places......

Ofcourse score matters but check your resume also......
