Hi everyone,

Right now I'm struggling with the biology section and not sure how I should go about it. I have exactly 4 weeks before my DAT (taking on August 30th) and have read through all of Cliff's, some of Feralis and youtube videos for sections i was weak on. I made mostly typed notes and a small amount of handwritten. However, I made a big mistake in not reviewing constantly and have forgotten material. I just started the bio section in DAT destroyer and I'm doing really badly.

My plan is to go through all of destroyer and all BC exams (hopefully twice?) and make notes for most questions but it seems like I won't have enough time because the explanations are really detailed (plus adding additional info from other sources).

My dilemma is that I would prefer to type out notes because it is faster and I will probably be able to go over more material that way, but I think I'm retaining more info if I hand write it, so what are your opinions on what I should do in my situation, and what worked the best for you?

I appreciate the help!

Hand writing might improve retention by a bit but it slows things down way too much to be effective for me. I type (which also lets me easily update and modify my notes) and then reviewed my notes very regularly to keep the material fresh in my head. 4 weeks is a lot of time but I wouldn't want to still be writing out the bulk of my notes in the weeks leading up to the test, just tweaking them with new info from BC/Destroyer.

Currently, I've gone through bio destroyer once and I got about 85% right. What I did was make an excel spreadsheet with the following columns:
Question # / My answer / Guessed? / Correct Answer / Notes
I took notes on the solutions for all the ones I got wrong, and on the ones I guessed on (even if it got it right), and as I was going through, I kept referring back to my notes I'd taken from Kaplan/Google/School and added that info into the Notes section.
It took FOREVER to get through all 627 solutions but I promise it's worth it. I've just started to take bootcamp tests, and I've been getting 24s! So this is what works for me, it might work for you too! Let me know if you have any questions on what I did. Hope this helps! :)

@Auntymarkovnikov Forgot to quote your post lol
Haha well I didn't go through it at all until I finished Kaplan's Bio section. Contrary to what Feralis says a lot, I really think it helped build a solid foundation for me to work off of and add to with the info in Destroyer. Now that I've finished Destroyer, I'm working on BC :)

No, seriously, I am gonna try this method!
I am already keeping tap on my progress using excel, but not like this.
Very creative way.
Thanks.
Haha you're welcome. I did red/pinkish for the ones I got wrong, and yellow for the ones I guessed on! Helps me sort through them quickly when reviewing :) Glad it helped!! Maybe I should also post my notes ("Artist's notes") or the rest of this spreadsheet haha ;)
