Hi, I guess I could use some adivce from you. I"m sort of in a similar position. I wasn't sure about medcine before undergrad because my parents pushed me towards the profession. As a result, I majored in Science and Business at the University of Waterloo in Canada. However, in second year I became more interested in the prospect of learning about bio rather than any other subject. Anyhow, I've never really worked hard for med school; infact, I spent 2 days studying for the MCAT which I didn't care to write. I scored a 7 verbal and a 5 biol and a 4 physical. At the time I didn't care however, I regret not trying for it. Anyhow, I graduated last year with a 3.6 GPA and I was looking for other careers that were just as interesting. Also, I was becoming increasingly bored of memorizing and I wanted to develop my thinking ability so I decided to apply to law school. Luckily this year I got into law school in Canada. 1700 people applied for 150 seats. However, for the last few months I have had troubling sleeping because I'm not sure if I want to study law for the next 3 years, I decided to study for the MCAT again but I found my self highly unmotivated and gave up within a week. Thus, I've always dreamed of being a doctor but only in Canada i'm usnure if this international route. Eventually, I woud like to live in Canada. Anyhow, I have two very important choices to make:

1. Go to law school

2. Defer Law school admission; study for the MCAT this entire year and write the exam april 2004. Attend law school for a year and then decide what I want to do. I could stay in law school if I enjoyed it or I could go to medical school.

Definitely the first one. Yes, anyone can see that option 2 is the correct choice.

Hey gpannu,

It sounds like you're very confused about what you really want to do here. My suggestion is that you create a list of reasons why you want to go into either profession.

Have you put a lot of time into thinking about both professions?
I don't mean to criticize you, or demean you in any way; I'm simply trying to point out that it might not be a good idea to put large amounts of effort into something, when you are not sure about it.

So it seems to me like you need to find some concrete reasons to pursue one profession or the other. This sounds like it will involve a lot of soul searching, and perhaps a few more sleepless nights.

I know that I am still searching for my reasons to pursue medicine......

Good luck, and Cheers

Thanks,

which choice....i'm assuming your suggesting two with a laod of sarcasm.

Suffice it to say that none of us here is qualified to offer suggestions on what direction your life should take; decisions that will affect your life.

Good luck figuring out what your true calling is, my friend.
