Here's my situation, I'm in a Inorganic Chem 2 this semester and i'm not happy at all. I got a "A" in the first semester of the class, but this semester I have a professor who is unbearable. I mean, I have never complained or have had a problem with any teacher before, if the class is hard then i would just have to work harder.

Anyway, I took this teacher since it was the only class i could fit into my schedule, despite all the bad things i'ver heard about him I thought it was blown out of proportion. It hasn't been, he is the most disgruntled, condesending D*ck ever. He gives us a 45 minute exam every Tuesday at the begging of our lab period, and on the tests he makes the questions in a way that they trick the entire class, to top it off when we go over the test he makes a point to point out that he "got the whole class with that one"

On Labs (which he grades out of 10 points) he take 1 point off per significant figure screwed up. I mean it's not the toughest thing but when your rushing to hand in your lab report at the end of the period you may miss a sig. fig. or two.

My question is what should i do? I'm not doing bad, im in the top say 2 or 3 students in the class, but will get either a B or a C, there is no curve or anything. I really would like to drop the class and take it next semester when i will be at another school. But how would that look on a transcript. I mean i have already dropped my Calc 3 class (since there is a family health problem and my head was messed up already) Any adivice would be appreciated. thanks

Would it be a drop or a withdrawl at this point? A drop won't show on your transcript so that wouldn't be a problem. A W on the other hand doesn't look good, but having 1 or a few won't hurt you much, but I'd still try to avoid it. You still have a lot of other premed classes to take so if you can pull a B for sure, I'd personally take that over a W.

There is nothing wrong with a B, especially in a chem class. Med schools know it is a hard class. While one or two Ws aren't going to kill you, if you think you can maintain the grade you have now than go for it. As far as the prof taking points off for sign. figs. and all, everyone is in the same boat and now you know what to expect so hopefully you can do as well or better for the rest of the semester.
