Wondering if anyone went to yale or traveled there before. i'm flying from the west coast and need to book my ticket. i was wondering what the most efficient way to get there was. should i go through bradley international airport or fly into new york? I'd like to spend some time in new york for the weekend, but kind of want to avoid the 3 hour travel time between.

Is the train faster from NYC or the connecticut limo service?
If i am flying in the night before an interview, should i just suck it up and fly into bradley so oi can get settled early..and sacrifice my trip to new york for the weekend? (ill becoming in on a thursday night and wanted to leave on a sunday..)
let me know!!!

whatever you do, don't try to drive to new haven from new york--did that two weekends ago, and basically ended up driving 15mph for 2 hours! it SUCKED!!

if i were you, i'd fly into new haven and after your interview take the train into nyc--i've heard they only take 1.5 hours and are decently priced...

hope that helps

If you want to take the train from NY to New Haven, it costs about $30 roundtrip (for "non-peak" times). Check out http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/mnr/index.html for ticket info. This will get you from the New Haven train station to Grand Central. The train station is also pretty close to Yale, so it should be a short taxi ride.

There is a shuttle that runs from NY airports to New Haven that costs $40. It drives directly to the center of Yale campus, which is only a five minute walk to the medical school, saving you the additional cash for the cab you would take from the train station. Leave early in the morning or late and night and its only a 2 hour ride. The shuttle service has a website, so do a little google searching and you may be able to find it.

EDIT: see next post

The train from New York is by far the most reliable, but the shuttles from either New York or Hartford would be more convenient... your call. If you are looking to take the train, the New York Airport Service runs shuttles frequently to Grand Central from all New York airports.
