I just took my seconf ufll length and got 7's in the scienes and 10 in V. My goal is to be above a 24 in august, will i be able 2 make it. Anybody have any suggestions to get my Verbal up2 a 13. I am currently reading Molecular Biology of the cell. Should I continue? I just need some helpful hints. I really wanna get my verbal up though for those of you who got really high score in the verbal part how did u do it? Thanx 😛

Why aren't you focusing more on the sciences? Your verbal is fine! 👍 I would be more focused on what you need to do to get your sciences in the same range as your verbal.

I agree. You should focus more on the sciences right now (obviously, do some verbal as well though).

In case one applicant came in with a 27, I think it would look better if it were 9, 9, 9 vs. 7, 7, 13. The latter composite shows some serious deficiencies, whereas the former is still consistent at least.

science is also easier to pull up once u get into sorting out what u need to learn ..just my 2 cents

Yeah, I think sciences are much easier to pull up than verbal.

although i am having a impossible time with ochem ..any suggestions anyone?
it just seems that the book/review stuff is so simple and i have a hard time dissolving the practic tests that are far more complex....

It's strange because the types of questions on the MCAT are very different from the types of questions I saw in Orgo in school. Not much synthesis and that type of thing, but a lot more understanding of why things happen. It takes some getting used to.

Hotbell - It's hard to get that verbal score to budge. It's the one with the toughest scoring curve. If you're consistently getting 10's, don't worry about it. Work on your science scores.

DPG - Kaplan practice tests typically have more complicated problems than the actual MCAT. If you need some reassurance, take a real old MCAT as a practice test. However, the scoring curve is roughly the same for Kaplan and the real thing, so if you're not scoring well in Organic and you are finishing the test, you still need work. Take your score breakdown and work on one concept at a time. Pick out your lowest scoring area and go study that in a real O-Chem book. When it improves, go on to another area. Repeat.

I think your numbers are about right. It seemed like my version of the April MCAT had very little Orgo on it.
