Hello sdn,

Mcat:September 3rd

I am taking a TPR class at the moment for content review, and I find it hard to keep it up. The problem is that my studying techniques tend to

take lot longer given the information. When I take notes, I find myself taking detailed notes of the chapters which may take anywhere from 3-5 hours of the chapter after we have

briefly touched base on material in class( its hard for me grasp contents on the first go). I would then take practice passages and would not fair as well as I planned. I feel like I am memorizing details rather than concepts. In the end I also have a bunch of notes which basically regurgitate the textbook, which in most cases I don’t end up reading. A friend of mine has given me his EK content / EK 1001 books to get more practice and overview of content. Is there anyone that has combined EK/TPR materials, and what study strategies did you use, results?

Thanks in Advance

I would nix the note-taking; it's obviously not working well for you and is clearly taking time away from another strategy that could work much better. Instead of taking such detailed notes, why don't you instead joy down ONLY key equations, mechanisms, main ideas, etc, and instead spend those extra hours doing more targeted passages that require you to apply what you read. It's okay if you get a lot wrong as long as you take the time to read through the solutions, understand why you got those questions wrong AND right, and then use that acquired knowledge to move on to another related passage.
