Hi guys,

I'm lucky enough to match into a program for pulm/crit fellowship.

My question is: I have quite limited exposure/experience in Neuro critical care. Do you guys think the exposure is necessary before I actually start? Or it doesn't really matter?

Thanks

It would be nice, but certainly not necessary. How much neuro did you do during residency? I know some IM programs that admit all head bleeds and "medical neuro". Other programs I have seen simply rotate on neuro for a month or so.

I also think it depends on where you are doing PCCM. Columbia? Pitt? UCSF? Cincinnatti? If so, then I would consider using a month at the end of residency in the NeuroICU. However, if you are going to PCCM at a place with a medical ICU, SICU, and CVICU only, then I wouldn't worry a bit.
