Neuro-oncology job prospects

I am currently interested in pursuing the field of neuro-oncology. I have a couple of questions on the salary and job prospects of this field. I have tried to look online/sdn for other posts on this topic but the data is sparse as there are so few people going into this field. I think this post would be pretty useful for others looking to go into neuro-oncology to know that they are getting into as well (1) What is the pay like in this field (2) are all jobs located in academic settings or do private practice jobs exist as well (3) does everyone get research funding in this field or is it just a select few (4) is this job mostly going to be in the outpatient and laboratory setting.
