Did any one notice this...UIC just revised their requirements in february. Now they want a year of psychology. I'm pi$$ed because before they said you can take 1 semester of psych and one in behavorial sciences (sociology basically). And this is what I have: 1 semester intro to psyc, 2 semesters of sociology. So this means this isn't good enough?😡

heres the required pre-reqs:http://www.uic.edu/depts/mcam//admissions/prereqs.shtml

jeez....

Why not just take a second semester of psych? I recommend something like abnormal psych because it's at least amusing.

Give them a call, I believe one of the options when you call is an extension to check about pre-reqs. Let us know how it turns out. I didn't know that and would be interested in what they say.

I had a quick question for you guys:

did any of you take classes that weren't required and didn't count towards anything like general education requirements etc?

Like this psych class I'll have to take, it won't count towards my gen eds (I think, because I've fulfilled almost of the gen ed requirements).

I can't get rid of this feeling that I'm wasting money - though I know I have to take it to please UIC.

I'll give them a call tdd340, I'll see what they say and report back. I might just take the class this summer, not sure.

Yes, I did. Some of us actually take classes because they interest us.

ok thats not what I was trying to imply. We have to take quite a few gen eds here (like yourself) and the classes I've taken have been all over the place in subject matter as I chose classes that I was genuinely interested in. Nicely enough these same classes counted towards my requirement. What I'm trying to say here is that there is ample opportunity to take classes that interest you, AND fulfill your requirements. I'm trying to save and not to spend more then I absolutely have to.

I'm tight enough trying to fulfill all my science classses required for my major on time, so it stings a bit when I have to add more than I need to meet requirements for 1 school.....

But I'll do it, as I really like UIC...

Then see if they will take a distance ed psych class. On the money front, a 3 hr psych course would only set you back what? $1000 tops?
